The Mayfield congregation traces its roots all the way back to the fall of 1930. After deciding they needed a place to worship the Lord, eight families began to worship together in the home of Jasper Rogers. They worshipped this way for nearly four years. The first gospel meeting was held in the spring of 1934. The next year, they were able to build the first meeting house near the old Mayfield school building. Thus the name “Mayfield” church of Christ was given to the congregation and still used today. This young congregation had an average attendance of 75. In 1950, two acres of land were purchased on old Hwy 45 in Saltillo, and in 1952 a new building consisting of an auditorium and two classrooms was constructed. This facility was added onto several times and served the congregation until the current building was constructed in 1995.
The history of the Mayfield congregation is not best described by speaking of the buildings, locations, and property. The Mayfield church of Christ is rich in its history because of its members. This congregation has been served over the years by many outstanding people. Their influence and work is a major factor in making us a congregation that loves the Lord, the truth of His Word, and our fellow man. We are indebted to the many good elders, deacons, preachers, teachers, and members that have made Mayfield what it is today. We are grateful to continue this tradition of being blessed with "good people".

Today, we are served by a great group of elders and deacons, wonderful teachers, and many others that do too many things to list! We support many local and foreign mission works with personal involvement by many of our members. We have special activities for the youth from nursery-aged up through college-aged. We have an active group of ladies that are involved in many ministries. We don’t say all this to boast, in fact, this glory belongs to God! He has impacted the lives of our members and in turn they have become a blessing both to us and many others. With the foundation we enjoy, we are prepared to make the next chapter in Mayfield’s history another where our God is glorified, and our fellow man is benefitted by our existence.
